Undersecretary Jenny Lester Moffitt of Maine encouraged farmers to consider a transition to organic farming. “We’re integrating climate into all of our programming,” Moffitt told reporters following an outdoor discussion with a dozen Maine farmers at Crystal Spring Farm, in Brunswick. In reviewing new federal funding opportunities, Moffitt said the department’s approach was about “transforming the food system and investing in the food system in every scale and in every type of production.” Goals include financial and technical assistance, facilitating better access to local and regional markets, and advocating climate-smart commodities that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack said one of the agency’s investments includes helping conventional producers who want to transition to organic farming. In a bid to make organic and natural farming popular among the masses, the Gujarat government has taken a different route to develop sensitivity towards chemical-free farming practices among students, parents and a larger society. The State education department has stated that it will introduce a special chapter on organic farming in the syllabus of class 9 to 12.

The State education department has stated that it will introduce a special chapter on organic farming in the syllabus of class 9 to 12.
