EWG’s 2024 Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce analyzes data from tests conducted by the Department of Agriculture and Food and Drug Administration on 47,510 samples of 46 fruits and vegetables. Fresh fruits and vegetables are must-have kitchen staples for healthy eating. Organic options containing considerably lower pesticide residues are typically pricier than their non-organic compounds. However, a recent study revealed that spending more of your paycheck at Costco on certain organic fruits and veggies may be worth it. All signs indicate the natural and organic products industry is emerging from the pandemic (and all its aftershocks) with resilience, determination and so much promise—and the numbers are bearing that out. Nutrition Business Journal preliminary market sizing data published in New Hope Network’s State of Natural Report, which will be released on March 29, shows the industry expanding by 4.7% in 2023 to hit $302 billion and projects it will grow 5.2% this year to reach $317.3 billion.
