As agriculture in the United States evolves, it’s becoming more intensive and less complex. That means larger fields, more cropland, and less crop diversity with fewer crops in rotation. The government of Argentina just approved the world’s first genetically modified wheat and is ready to promote its widespread use. Dorothy Warda claims organic foods cured her daughter and now this Texan mom is spreading the health at her cafe. Bayer is facing a double hit from a higher legal bill for claims relating to weedkiller Roundup as well as $10.82 billion in impairments on agriculture businesses, much of it related to its Monsanto deal. The toxic herbicide dicamba is once again at the center of a larger story about states’ authority to regulate pesticides beyond federal dictates. The Trump Environmental Protection Agency has just made it much harder for state regulations to be more protective than federal rules are. It did so via a footnote embedded in dozens of pages of regulatory documents related to EPA’s registration of three new dicamba products.

Organic foods cured her daughter. Now Texas woman is spreading the health at her cafe.

In a decision that might have saved her daughter’s life, Dorothy Warda turned to nothing. As in no preservatives and a 100% organic diet. Warda in turn was inspired to open DessertsRX cafe in Colleyville, which serves organic delights to its customers.

EPA by Fiat Overturns State Authority to Restrict Pesticides in the Face of Its Faltering Programs

The toxic herbicide dicamba is once again at the center of a larger story about states’ authority to regulate pesticides beyond federal dictates. The Trump EPA has just made it much harder for state regulations to be more protective than federal rules are. It did so via a footnote embedded in dozens of pages of regulatory documents related to EPA’s registration of three new dicamba products. Given conservatives’ long-standing lip service to “states’ rights,” this EPA’s thwarting of the wishes of individual states to respond to their respective circumstances could easily be regarded as an odd — though, during this administration, hardly singular — stance. This latest development underscores EPA’s continuing failures to protect people and the environment, and the increasing tension between centralized, federal regulation and more-local regulation, whether by states or smaller localities.
