The USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service says $9.75 million has been awarded through the Organic Market Development Grant to 10 projects that will support the development and expansion of new and existing organic markets to increase the consumption of domestic organic agricultural products. Black Mountain, North Carolina-based New Sprout Organic Farms LLC has been purchased by Joey and Kristi Hocutt, a husband and wife team with a long-time presence in the southeastern agriculture industry as growers-packers-shippers.
