Here at Only Organic, we’ve come up with 10 ways to celebrate an organic Mother’s Day.

  1. Plant an organic flower patch or pot.  Plant flowers for your mom instead of picking them. Flowering plants in the ground or in a pot provide longer-lasting blooms and are excellent for pollinators. We recommend crocus, hyacinth, borage, calendula, or wild lilac to provide enticing spring blooms.
  2. Plant an organic garden. With spring well underway, this is a great time to get your hands in the dirt and grow some delicious organic food. We’ve pulled together seven steps to starting and enjoying an organic garden here. If an outdoor garden isn’t an option, consider growing greens indoors for your mother, using our guide.
  3. Make an organic DIY scrub. The dried lavender in this scrub exfoliates as it soothes the senses. Ingredients: one cup of sea salt, two to three sprigs of organic dried lavender, between two and six drops of organic lavender essential oil, and one cup of organic grapeseed oil. Mix the ingredients in a mason jar and use a teaspoon at a time.
  4. Create an organic goody basket. Only Organic’s supporting brands’ products would make a lovely organic Mother’s Day basket. Learn more about our supporting brands here.
  5. Buy delicious organic chocolate. What mother doesn’t love organic chocolate? Choose certified organic selections from brands such as Alter-Eco, Equal Exchange, Green and Blacks, Dagoba, and Ocho.
  6. Invite mom over for organic drinks. If you’re planning to celebrate in person, make it a point to serve organic wine or tea.
  • Organic tea: One of the main reasons people choose organic tea over conventionally grown is that it’s just better for you. Learn more about organic tea here.
  • Organic wine: In 2010, 25 million pounds of pesticides were applied to conventionally grown wine grapes in California, according to the state’s Department of Pesticides Regulation. That was a 19 percent pesticide increase over the year before. Pesticides, and many other additives added to conventional wine, give us ample reason to choose certified organic.

  3. Ship mom an organic gift. Can’t get together in person this year? Thanks to online retailers and fast shipping, you can celebrate Mother’s Day virtually, with your gift arriving on time. Use our Organic Mother’s Day gift guide to purchase.
  4. Give your mom a subscription to an organic CSA or produce delivery. Find a local CSA here. If a local CSA is not an option, try one of these organic delivery boxes.
