The Washington state Supreme Court has reinstated a whopping $18 million judgment and a penalty against one of America’s most powerful corporate lobbies, the Grocery Manufacturers Association, for intentionally shielding names of food companies contributing millions to defeat a Washington ballot initiative. The GMA masterminded opposition to Initiative 522, a 2013 ballot initiative that would have required labeling of genetically modified foods and seeds sold in Washington stores.
